Our Story

Ask the people who run Charter Bus Rentals Dallas where the company really comes from, and the answer isn’t a founding date. It’s the seven years Matthew Johnston spent working in transportation from the passenger’s seat instead of an office. His father Neal had spent years building the regional reputation that gave Matthew his first industry education, and long before Matthew owned anything, he was the one getting touring musicians to the next city, corporate leaders to the room on time, and wedding parties to the church without a hitch.

That stretch taught him what no balance sheet could: the vehicle is the easy part. What separates a good group operation from a forgettable one is judgment under pressure, the read on a crowd, the instinct for what goes wrong before it does. When he later built AJL International, the parent company we operate under today, that lesson was the foundation, and it’s the reason the business could grow from a handful of vehicles into a fleet that fills fifty seats at a time.

From Local Roots To A Full Coach Fleet

How a short line of vehicles became a fleet of full-size coaches.

A few dates mark the turns along the way:

  • 1995: Matthew launched Johnston Limousines with his brother Michael, a small operation with a short line of cars.
  • 1999: A merger with Accent Limousine created AJL International.
  • 2012: The business moved to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, planting itself at the center of a Metroplex of twelve counties and nearly seven million people.
  • 2020: A new 40,000-square-foot facility on four acres near DFW opened, the service yard where a large mixed fleet is now maintained and dispatched.
  • Today: From a single yard near DFW, Charter Bus Rentals Dallas dispatches full-size coaches and multi-vehicle bookings across the region as part of AJL International.

With each step, the fleet widened too, from that first line of limousines to executive sprinters, mini buses, mini coaches, and full-size motor coaches. All of it built toward one thing: a company that could move a crowd as surely as it once moved a single passenger. When your group is ready to move, we’re here to help.
